Tuesday Mar 31, 2020
Many individuals and organizations are stepping up to try and help our medical professionals in need of PPE by using innovative techniques, including 3D printing, to create more supply for these heroes. Calling All Makers is one such group, that aims to mobilize professional and non-professional makers with 3D printers and provide them with information to produce and deliver PPE where it’s needed the most. I spoke to Nate Hilzinger, the founder of Calling All Makers, to learn more.

Instacart has been called out by its workers (shoppers) for not providing safe working conditions and not providing adequate pay. Specifically, a group called Gig Workers Collective organized a work strike today to bring awareness to these serious issues and their demands. I spoke to Sarah Clarke, one of the organizers, to learn more about what’s happening.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many individuals are being financially impacted. This includes nearly 120 employees that help support the MBA experience at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Kate Williams, a current student in the Kellogg Executive MBA program, along with her classmates in EMBA cohort 120, decided to put together a fundraiser to try and help these employees.
Please help out the employees by visiting this website: https://mbahighimpact.com/support-kellogg-service-staff/

We talk to Pat Fowler, the co-owner of the Firehouse Grill in Evanston, IL. The Firehouse was one of countless businesses across the world impacted by quarantines in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A large chunk of the staff has been furloughed as a result, and the Firehouse is solely reliant on carry-out and delivery business now.
Please help the furloughed staff of the Firehouse by contributing to a GoFundMe established for them here: https://rebrand.ly/firehousegrill
